Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mold cavity. It is the most common method for mass-producing plastic parts, offering excellent repeatability, low per-unit cost at scale, and the ability to create complex geometries. The process involves heating plastic pellets until molten, injecting them under high pressure into a precision-machined mold, cooling the part, and ejecting it. Key considerations include gate design, wall thickness uniformity, draft angles, and material shrinkage rates.
